  • [Meet Corrie]: a typewriter.

"What wings are to a bird and sails to a ship, so is prayer to the soul."

"God's love is the only thing that stands... when all else has fallen."

"Any concern too small to be turned into prayer is too small to be made into a burden."

"I believe powerless Christians are the most dangerous thing of our time."

    Yes, this is Corrie.
    My darling, amazing typewriter!

For those of you who know me you probably know these two things:

    1. I love anything old-fashioned and timeless
    2. I can't get enough of Corrie ten Boom

The first is, I have been aching to have an old-fashioned typer writer for some time. Mostly just for photo shoots, but if I found a working one, it would be even better.  I can't tell you how thrilled I was to find "Corrie". I've had her for about a month, but just a few weeks ago my Daddy [who is amazing, in case you were wondering] was willing to take time to "fix" her and make her work... and really, truly type! For twenty minutes, I got a "typing lesson" from Dad... and was happy dancing and squealing for joy and exclaiming: "It works! It works! It works!" His response: "Kristi, it is a typewriter... are you gonna be ok?" *grin* Some things are just too precious to put into words, that is where happy dances and such come in. I think it was partly because not only did I have an actual typewriter, [thank you, Spancy Ketosherosh Vintage] but it is teal AND my Daddy got it to work... and the sight of actual type annnnddd hearing the sound of it. Yeahhhh. uh-ma-zing.

With the suggestion from adopted brother, it seemed fitting to name my typewriter after a hero of the faith! Specifically one whose actions spoke louder than her words and a simple quote of hers speaks louder than most people's sermons. Corrie has been a hero of mine for many years now. Her real life practical approach to Jesus and faith drew me in. Her father, Casper, her sister Betsy... all simply taking God's word as fact and living their lives accordingly, even at great cost... their lives. It is not all smiles and hugs, delight and wonder. No, it is sweat, blood and tears... aching hearts and shatter dreams.

But God... that is the theme of Corrie ten Boom: "But God..."

I want to love and depend on Jesus the way Betsy and Corrie ten Boom did.
I want to understand it is never about me, and always about Him.
I want to live what I say I believe and not just talk about it.
I want to be willing to not just live... but die... for Jesus.

A month or so ago, I came across Corrie ten Boom sermons online... I encourage you to get a cup of tea and listen.
Listen to any of them. It will probably change your life. Then I would grab a copy of the Hiding Place and find yourself swept away by a living faith in a dark world.

"When a Christian shuns fellowship with other Christians, the devil smiles. When he stops studying the Bible... the devil laughs. When he stops praying, the devil shouts for joy."

What do you think of her?
I am thankful and think she is fabulous.
